Lime Plaster - Color Skim Architectural Series
Order color chipsRead the FAQ ↓Color Skim is a lime plaster wall color you use in place of paint. It’s a smooth, sand-free lime and fine marble plaster for interior walls, troweled on in paper-thin coats for soft, natural color with gentle movement and depth that paint can’t match.
Each two-part kit comes pre-colored in one of 34 shades. Apply it over primed drywall or existing plaster with a Venetian plaster trowel. Leave it matte (easiest for DIY) or burnish it for a soft sheen. One gallon kit covers about 50–75 sq ft in two coats.
Browse by family: Whites & Creams, Warm Earth & Clay, Stone & Greige, Cool Greys & Blues/Greens and Deep Accents. Not sure on a color? Order 2" color chips for $5 each. They’re real plaster, so you see the true color on your own wall.
You’ll also need Lime Plaster Primer – Smooth for drywall and a drill mixer attachment, plus optional Gloss or Low Gloss sealer.

01What is Color Skim?
Color Skim is a smooth, non-sanded lime plaster made as a mineral alternative to paint. It goes on as a paper-thin skim coat of color, with a finish similar to smooth Venetian plaster.
02Where can I use it?
It's made for interior walls. Apply it over primed drywall or concrete board, or directly over plaster walls as a final color finish.
03How will it look on my walls?
Color is built into the plaster, so your trowel strokes and the minerals show as soft visual depth and movement. Leave it ultra-matte, or burnish it for more sheen.
04How much do I need?
Plan on 50–75 sq ft per gallon. Kits come in Quart and Gallon sizes, each pre-colored in one of 34 shades.
05How do I choose my color?
Browse the color families above, then order 2" color chips for $5 each. That way you see the true shade in your own light before you buy a kit.
06How do I prep and apply it?
Start with a smooth surface primed with Pro Mason Plaster Primer Smooth. Then trowel on thin coats, no thicker than 1/16" each, with a Venetian plaster trowel.
07How do I finish and care for it?
Let the plaster cure 1–3 weeks before applying a water-based sealer such as Lime Plaster Sealer (Gloss or Low Gloss). Wax, soap or oil finishes can go on after at least 48 hours (1 week recommended).
