Collection: Pre-1920's Brick & Stone Mortar

Lime mortar with various pozzolanic impurities and no other cements added were used in masonry construction typically from the Roman times up to around 1920 in most construction applications. Our Pozzolanic Lime Mortars (PHL) mixes are made for repair work to buildings constructed primarily before 1920 or in specialty applications requiring a lime only mortar. PHL 2.0 is the weakest and intended for interior use or very fragile masonry that is not subject to severe weather conditions. PHL 3.5 is the most commonly used lime mortar and is a general purpose mortar that balances strength and workability. PHL 5.0 is our strongest lime mortar and workability is not as ideal as the 3.5 and is designed for parapet or chimney type areas that see high weather exposure.
